Ten of the alpha class members were initiated into the sorority and the chapter was officially installed. The year went by fast, but was filled with many fun activities that have lead them to their huge accomplishment. They are excited their process is finally complete and are proud to call themselves Phi Rhos!
Dinner at Buca to celebrate |
Here is what Nicole had to say about the colony history:
"Last October Phi Rho Nationals presented at a SWE meeting. They held an info session that Sunday at Panera Bread on Calhoun. Leighanna and I have been stuck forever since. We grew from two to five to the eleven we have now. We have been through so much together. We tackled bylaws over Christmas break. We were inducted as an official colony of Phi Sigma Rho on the twenty-seventh of March 2011. We took our first step towards becoming a chapter when we started out New Member education on April third with Phi Sigma Rho pride. Later that month we scrapbooked at our lock in, sold quesadillas, were one of the top relay for life fundraising teams, and wore our pearl pins every Monday of which it was conveniently raining. On the first of May we started our tradition of our annual trip to the zoo to take pictures with our family animals; we even got to pet Buddy the penguin. We have come a long way to make it here today. We have fulfilled every requirement and grown stronger, not only as a future chapter of phi sigma rho, but also as sisters. Over the summer we were given the opportunity to meet fellow sisters and brothers of Phi Rho and Triangle at convention. They were very encouraging and gave us many tips and advice for future use. Last month we ended our first recruitment and gained fifteen new candidates. As a chapter we will be able to grow as a family and to extend our help to our new pearl sisters."
Congratulations girls! And welcome to the Phi Rho family!
